I am an aspiring teacher with a focus on supporting students through their hardest years. I believe I have a calling to work with children. From a young age I was looking after younger siblings, friend’s siblings and tried making them all my students! At the age of 14 I picked up a part time job as a gymnastics coach and spent 4 years coaching children. Being a confused and rebellious teenager meant that I dropped out of sixth form to work full time. After many years working in the hair industry, my desire to teach started again when supporting apprentices in salon. I then moved on to teach the NVQ Award in Hairdressing at Headmasters Academy in Richmond. It was there that I gained my Level 3 Award in Education and Training. Last year, I changed career and applied with an agency to be a Youth Mentor. My first placement was at Twickenham School as a Teaching Assistant which wasn't really my plan. However, I quickly fell in love with the school and the job role and so when the Head Teacher asked me to stay on full time with the school, I happily accepted. Being only 1 of few TA's with a SEN register of about 150 (and growing) there was much work to do and many students to support. I then changed job roles to work as a teaching assistant in a Primary School closer to home. Unfortunately, because of the Corona Virus outbreak, the school let go of my position alongside other agency staff. Over the Year in Schools, I have been privileged to be trained up in many skills and given the opportunity to lead on interventions with Mathematics and Literacy. Below I have listed my skill set within the SEN/Teaching Role.

I am a singer mostly trained in opera but I am able to teach all types of music. My major concern is to give you the tools to sing healthy without tensions nor harm to your voice. I help to expand your range and volume (or projection of the voice). A typical lesson consist on warm-up exercises for which you learn many tips and ideas on how to use your voice. It develops technique and broadens your self-consciousness of your voice ability. If needed, I do some ear-training exercises. And for more than the half of the lesson, we sing through repertoire we have chosen together. I ask my students what they want to sing, I suggest a piece and we decide together. Once a month, I ask a pianist to come and accompany my students. And at the end of the year, I organise a studio recital where the students get acquainted to sing in front of a small audience. I always make sure to make you feel relaxed and fine during the lesson and your self-confidence will built-up and/or gets to its best. I am a good musician ans will be detailed concerning music learning and interpretation. I studied voice and learned opera in USA, both on the east and west coast where I used to perform in operas and symphonic music. I have an extensive knowledge of choral music and hence good ear training tools. I also have prepared many students to auditions by introducing them to the techniques for it (thanks to my personal experience and books).
